Purchasing teak furniture for the garden is probably the best option if you are environmentally conscious. Some companies have started offering teakwood furniture that has been reclaimed or salvaged which lowers the environmental impact. It also has other benefits such as keeping away corrosion and rust when it comes in contact with any metal attachments. This wood is hard, stable and does not require very much care; all it takes is cleaning with a scrub brush and warm soapy water once or twice a year. As teak ages its color will change from a reddish brown to silver-gray color. If you wish to keep its natural color you can apply a sealant when it is new. Since this wood has its own natural oil content it is protected against rotting and corrosion; it also has the ability to withstand high humidity, extreme heat and freezing temperatures.

Teak garden furniture is constructed from teak trees that are grown in Costa Rica and the tropical areas of Java. Most of the companies that build this wonderful outdoor patio furniture purchase their wood from the farms that harvest their trees environmentally or by re-foresting.
