Outdoor Solar Garden Lights

Gardener's Garden Supplies

Outdoor solar garden lights strategically placed in your front garden and backyard garden can make your home just as beautiful at night as it does during the daylight hours. Those outdoor solar garden lights also help to prevent guests from stumbling when leaving your house and they will also highlight your walkways. It is always better to feel a little more secure to know that it is safe to visit your home.

You want to use the sun to help light up the night in all your outdoor spaces. Solar lights will not need any wiring and are very easy to install. A small solar panel charges one or several batteries during the daylight hours and then they power an energy efficient bulb after the sun goes down. The solar lights that are the brightest are using LEDs or Light Emitting Diodes instead of the old filament bulbs.

The volume of energy that is produced by the solar cell will determine how much will be accessible for the light. The more proficient cells that have the better circuitry will end up providing more solar power to the batteries which in turn get passed on to the bulb. The batteries in these lights will also last much longer; there are some solar lights that are able to remain lit for several nights after only one sunny day. The transparency on the solar cell cover is important, as the panel receives more light it can produce more energy to the bulb.

The batteries that are most often used in solar powered garden lights are the Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) because they hold up better to frequent charges and releases than Nickel-Cadmium (NiCad) batteries. Another good point about these batteries is the environment will not be harmed when you discard them. The number and size of the batteries is a component in the brightness of your light and it also depends on the type or size of solar light you are going to use.

There are at least three different types of solar garden lights and they are: Solar accent lights which you use to highlight the areas of your garden that will provide atmosphere. Some of them come in other colors beside white and could include a quiver or flicker to imitate a flame. These accent lights give off the lowest amount of light; Outdoor solar path lights are used to light up driveways and walkways and have a mid-range amount of light output. Some of them are equipped with an on/off switch for turning off when not needed; Outdoor solar spotlights or task lights have the brightest output of light and may have the lighting power of a 40-watt bulb. These lights are made with a special lense that focuses the light on a particular object and quite often the solar panel can be placed in an area that receives the most sunlight. Usually the solar panel is attached by a long slender wire.

There is also a wide variety of solar lights that can be used on your deck or patio. Some of them can blend right into the surface of your deck and other models that can be used as design features to stand out on the deck or around a patio. Some popular design lights are the hanging outdoor solar string lights that resemble kettle lanterns and are usually mounted along the deck railing; some models can be mounted in the ground that are suspended on tall rods and will hang over the edges of your deck. Another style is the solar rope lights and along with the hanging outdoor solar string lights the light sensor is attached at the end of the string along with an on/off switch and the solar panel is staked in the ground.

There is also a new style of outdoor solar deck lights and these can be mounted right into the surface of your deck, the railing posts, or the stairs of the deck. Generally speaking it will take a little bit more time to install them but they are still very attractive on a deck. Even though these particular lights take more time to mount the solar deck lights are easier to install than those hard wired lights and are much more economical.

Outdoor solar garden lights are becoming more popular since everyone now days is trying to save money and conserve electricity. Since solar panels are becoming much more advanced all the time, the variety of equipment that can now be powered by the energy of the sun grows tremendously.
