Garden Tool Organizer or Garden Tool Rack

Should we be using a garden tool organizer or garden tool rack? Some of our tools, such as our shovels, rakes, hoes, or anything with a long handle, would be better in a garden tool rack that is free standing or even better on wheels. Our smaller tools, such as trowels, hand forks, and pruners, could use a garden tool organizer. So answering the question of garden tool organizer or garden tool rack could be very easy, we probably need one of each.

Garden tool organizers come in many different sizes and shapes; some of course are mobile and easy to move from one spot to another. Organizers can be a life saver if your space is limited and you need some organization. Having a lot of garden tools isn't necessarily a bad idea; it is just the fact that we need to know where to find them when needed. For the long handled tools that get don't get used very often we can get by with garden tool rack that is mounted to the wall. Those that get the most use should probably be in a garden tool rack that is free standing and on wheels. This way we can roll it around the garden to the spot where we will be working.

Many of our small hand garden tools are made with holes in the handles specifically for hanging. These can be hung from hooks that are placed into a pegboard that is mounted on our wall. Some of your longer handled garden tools can also be hung in this manner but need to hang by the working end of the tool. Garden hoses and extension cords, to prevent tangles, are best if stored on some sort of reel. Some garden tools are better off not hung on the wall, such as our chain saws, any kind of heavy duty saw, or anything with a sharp blade. These tools need to be up and away on shelves so children won't be able to reach them. Some of our tools come with several attachments and are best stored on shelves or a garden tool rack baskets.

garden tool cart is an excellent option for those everyday hand garden tools. Some of these garden tool carts not only have storage for our tools, and bulbs and seeds, but also come with attached wheels and the storage cover is also a seat. This not only is an easy way to haul our tools around the garden but also makes gardening easier on the back, for some us gardeners, by having a seat. A potting table is also an option. Most of these kinds of tables have organization sections on top and underneath storage for small hand tools and most of them are resistant to the weather.

Now that we have some ideas as to how to store some of our garden tools we need to figure out where the storage is going be located. Do we have enough room in our garage or do we need to buy a shed?

Garages are the most common areas to store garden tools but some of us don't have a lot of room in them. A tool shed, that small structure built to store garden tools and equipment, if we have enough space in the backyard to put one. If a tool shed is the right thing, we need to remember that they can be costly, depending on how large it is. We probably want it to be large enough to store our lawn mower, trimmers, and blowers, along with everything else.

If we really want to be organized we may want to think about taking an inventory of all the garden tools we own and where they are kept. This way we won't be buying a possible duplicate tool because we know we own one and also know its location. Our list should also include any garden tools that are out on loan and to whom, which increases our chances of getting it back.

Now the decision has to be made, we just need to make sure that whatever we choose, a garden tool organizer or garden tool rack, is the right one for the amount and type of tools we own.
