Interior Landscaping Design

Interior landscaping is comprised of the design, arrangement, and care of living plants in an enclosed environment. Interior landscaping is the proper term to use even though there is no 'land' involved because indoor environments, such as homes and offices, contain angles, plains, and horizons that can be accentuated, altered, or softened by adding plants to enhance the space. Akin to exterior landscapes, these interior landscapes will provide the spaces with color, sculptural features, focal points, embellishment, and panoramic pleasant settings.

Interior landscaping design is being able to bring more color and life by using living plants along with houseplants. It reshapes interior areas by adding the above mentioned elements to many different areas of the home or office environment and making it more beautiful. Indoor landscaping is a wonderful way of purifying the air that you breathe. This healthier environment will help to improve your health and reduce stress in a business atmosphere.

There are few things that need to be considered when doing landscaping indoors. You want to check the dimensions of the different areas you wish to landscape and then decide which flowers and plants will work best in those particular areas. The larger areas are going to need more than the smaller areas. The main idea is attract to attention by using some colorful plants along with designer containers. Placing your furniture around the landscaping and placing lights among the landscape design gives the room more interest and ambience. Some other very important considerations include sufficient lighting, either natural or artificial, your water supply, correct drainage for each plant, and proper air circulation.

Many people expect those indoor landscaping plants need to be kept healthy and attractive all of the time but they need to remember that many of those plants are generally not grown naturally inside buildings. Therefore these plants require special care in order to survive in an indoor environment. The good news is there have been several new developments regarding interior landscaping that have enhanced the living conditions of landscaping plants for indoors. There has also been a wider selection of plants that have been developed from their tropical origins so they have become more suitable as interior landscaping plants.

Since light is an extremely important aspect in choosing your plants for your new indoor landscape, the typical categories of light include low light, medium, high, and very high light, which refers to the amount of light your plant needs to thrive indoors. Some plants that require low light include the Neanthe Bella Palm and the Parlor Palm which require constant watering and will grow nicely in large containers. Plants that only require low light are perfect for areas where there is very little or no natural light and where the primary source of light is a fluorescent light. An outstanding plant that requires medium light is the attractive and sturdy Laurel Fig and distinctive Madagascar Dragon Tree. These indoor landscaping plants have a tendency to survive even with poor gardening habits; some of us do forget to give our plants water. Your high light plants and very high light plants such as the Elephant Foot Tree or the Queen Palm require so much light and may get very large that they are really not recommended for house interiors.

Even though many indoor landscaping plants or houseplants are able to withstand the conditions of an indoor environment, it is still very important to give them proper care since they still are vulnerable to pest and insect problems. Care should also be taken when giving your plants fertilizer, if you give them too much you may kill the plant. Always make sure you use the proper size container for that particular plant and how large you want it to grow. If you bought your indoor plants from a greenhouse, your plants may undergo a period of getting used to their new environment; it may lose a few leaves but they will adapt eventually.

Interior landscaping plants will enhance the look of the interior of your home, make it green, and it will become pleasing and relaxing to your eyes. Many people today not only want indoor plants in their homes but also want them in their work places. Now that you have some ideas, go ahead and enjoy designing some garden areas around your furniture or in some corners of your home to create relaxing interior landscaping.
